Green Living Tip from the MIGBC: Recycled Silver Wear Posted: Jun 2013 Posted by: Mats Inc.

Brimfield, Massachusetts is the site of the largest outdoor antique show in New England, with over 5000 dealers from all over the country. For one week three times a year, the shows take place in May, July, and September.   The fair is a great source of creative inspiration; after all, what’s old is new.  One of the many neat items that I came across during my visit to the fair this May was this bracelet recycled from vintage silverware.

They are hand produced by John Atkinson under the clever name of Recycled Silver Wear.  He creates them with secure magnetic clasps that make them really easy to put on and take off without any assistance.  Each bracelet is tagged with the name of the silver pattern and the year it was originally manufactured as a utensil.  This pattern is called “Reflections” from 1939. Neat stuff!

John sells his bracelets at fairs, markets and interesting designer shops.  He doesn’t have a web site but you can contact him at jasilver1@yahoo.com.
