Just one year after groundbreaking in October 2008, the Yawkey Sports Training Center for Special Olympics Massachusetts has opened. DiGiorgio Associates Inc. of Boston designed an impressive building that is now home to the executive offices for 24 fulltime employees, an educational curriculum with the University of Massachusetts Medical School, and training programs for more than 12,000 athletes.

At the very heart of this state-of-the-art facility is the stunningly beautiful full-court gymnasium where the flooring takes center stage. The Special Olympics sports staff required a sports floor that would be durable to accommodate a variety of activities and events, reduce the risk of injury during athletic training, and provide the best possible experience for the athletes.
